Rats actually make some of the most affectionate and easy-to-care-for pets in the world. They also come in a smorgasbord of colors and you can even get Dumbo-eared models, which actually sounds kind of mean, but they're bleepin' cute. There are tons of ratteries online, but this one has a really good website because you can get a pretty good idea of what the breeder rats look like, and their human associates seem to know exactly what to expect. They also have posts on litters they are expecting. And it's kind of funny that they've named their rattery after a whole 'nother species of animal.

Of course, you could always just bop on down to your local pet store for your rodent companion, but then you don't get all the choice, and I have never, ever seen a Dumbo-eared rat in a pet store. Or in person for that matter. I wonder if they really exist. Maybe they're just a big hoax like space travel.
