Hide Your Treasures In Plain Sight

Most thieves have to get in and out of your place fast. They don't know when you're coming home or when they might be discovered. That's why you shouldn't put your valuables in the obvious places. The thief is probably going to check your sock drawer for rainy-day cash. He may even know how to get inside your safe. If he thinks you have something valuable enough, he may wait until you come home to force you to open it for him.

He would never expect that you may have your treasures tucked away in a soda can, and especially a soda can that looks and feels full, just as if it had never been opened.

Welcome to the world of diversion safes - boxes in which you store your valuables, and then camouflage them in your house. There are 15 selections. You can get a diversion safe that looks like a beer or soda can. In fact, the one in the picture is a dummy of an RC Cola can. (Cola cans are fine unless, of course, your thief decides he's thirsty halfway through the heist. Some of these guys can get pretty cheeky and help themselves.)

You can get a safe that looks like a sprinkler head, or one that looks like a wall socket or a book. Some safes look like household cleaners (Pledge, anyone?) or rocks. A rock may be a good place to hide a spare key, because you know everyone hides a key under the mat or in the mailbox.

You can hide your things in food, like a fake saltshaker that looks as though it's filled with salt. There are similar salad dressing and peanut butter jar safes as well. There's even a thermometer safe. Heck, get enough of these things and you may not be able to find your valuables yourself.
