I’ll Gladly Pay You Tuesday for a Canned Cheeseburger Today!
Have you ever been taking a nice walk out in the wilderness, enjoying the calm serenity of the great outdoors, taking in the fresh air, and suddenly had the overwhelming desire for a hot and juicy fast-food style cheeseburger? Well, if so, you’re in luck because you can now load up your backpack with the world’s first Canned Cheeseburger! Swiss company Katadyn has actually created and is now selling a fully prepared cheeseburger that comes in a pop-top can just like tuna fish! How can this be and how does it taste are probably the first questions that come to mind when considering this strange and unusual product.

Well, first of all, Katadyn is actually quite well-known for its water filtration, sterilization, and mobile desalination equipment for marine, camping, and outdoor traveling use. The military and various world relief organizations use their products to provide fresh, clean, drinkable water to those who need it most around the world. So, their intentions are for good, rather than evil!
The offshoot company, Trekking-Mahlzeiten, is the largest outdoor producer of freeze-dried foods for travelers, hikers, runners, and the like. If you have ever eaten these types of products while exploring the great outdoors, you know that they usually consist of things like soup or stew or scrambled eggs that are packed into an unappetizing bag. When you add water these foods miraculously reconstitute back into a recognizable edible product. Well, now they have taken this idea and run with it by inventing the canned cheeseburger.
Preparing the canned cheeseburger is actually pretty easy and quite inventive! You simply place the entire can into a pot of water, heat it up over an open flame, and pop open the can when ready. Voila, your cheeseburger is ready to eat and you didn’t even have to wait at the drive-thru! As for the taste, that will probably be up to personal choice, but it sure beats dry granola and stale crackers! The canned cheeseburger will last up to twelve months without refrigeration, so stock up for that summer camping trip.
But wait, what if you want to enjoy a fine glass of wine with your canned cheeseburger? Well, Trekking-Mahlzeiten has solved that problem too by offering powdered wine that simply needs a little water added to it and you’re living the good life again! Ah, cheeseburgers, wine, and the great outdoors … what could be better?
